Staffordshire figure of Dick Turpin, the ‘Gentleman Highwayman’, mounted on his faithful steed Black Bessy, a pink tricorn hat on his head & pistol in hand, titled across the base in raised letters.

Good condition, an old restored chip to front of hat, black has some mis-firing to enamel surface, displays well.

Two of the most famous highwaymen were portrayed as a pair by numerous Staffordshire potters over a long timespan. Tom King & Dick Turpin had a history together that gripped the pubic’s imagination, like any modern true-crime story does today.
