Interesting Staffordshire Pottery mug, printed in black with commemorative inscriptions for the John Wesley Centenary, 1839, including a portrait engraving of him to the front; the sides with ‘curtain’ divisions reserving the inscriptions:
‘ REV JOHN WESLEY, Founder of METHODISM. Born June 17th 1703 DIED Mar 2 1791.’
and
‘CELEBRATION of the CENTENARY OF WESLEYAN METHODISM. est 28th 1839’
the interior with a border of flowers.
