Sawankhalok (Thailand) stoneware jar, the tall form with short neck & twin handles, covered in thick brown glaze.

Condition: Very good, minor signs of age, glaze still has good lustre, chip restored to rim, otherwise good condition.

A comparative example was recovered from the Ko Khram shipwreck, Gulf of Thailand, c. 1450-75
ref. Brown ‘The Ceramics of South-East Asia’ pl XXXV d. for a different shaped vase with the same characteristics, ie. glaze with blueish bloom, dark red-brown body, described as Sawankhalok 14th-16th century.
