Rorstrand is a Swedish pottery which traces it’s origins to the 18th century. During the mid 19th century, they produced white earthenwares like this plate in direct imitation of the Staffordshire English wares. This example uses a French print source as the design, from a Paris publication of circa 1850 which featured ‘Swedish Dress Designs’ – “Prime Du Journal Les Modes Parisiennes / Costumes Suedois dessines par MM.Camino et Regamey D’apres les dessins originaux communiques par M.deD…L et graves par Charles Geoffroy”
