From 1950-1975, Artur and Sylvia Halpern produced a range of slipcast domestic ware under the name Sylha. Artur learnt the techniques of mould making and slip casting from Costantino Bacchini, an Italian ceramic craftsman. They employed a small team to do the work, including for a time the Western Australian potter Mike Kusnik. The workshop was based at Huntingdale but around 1958 moved to Warrandyte.
