Torquay Pottery jug, hand painted ‘field mouse’ signed J. Wallace, 1920’s
$175.00 AUD
Torquay Pottery jug of slightly tapered straight-sided form, well painted with a continuous scene of a barley field, with a large field mouse to either side.
Signed to the base ‘J Wallace’ , also ‘E.H.W’, possible blurred date opposite (1928?)
Circa 1920’s
17cm high, base 11.5cm wide
Good condition
A ‘Martin’ Wallace is recorded working at Whatcombe; however, ‘J’ Wallace doesn’t appear recorded. The jug is definitely of Devon origin, and seems to be a ‘documentary’ rarity still to be identified.
