Victorian ‘float bowl’, basketweave + life-like waterlillies, atr. Moore Bros c. 1885
$860.00 AUD
Striking Victorian float bowl, attributed to Moore Brothers, modelled as a cane basket with angular profile, the rim draped with life-size gold lotus flowers and green leaves with gilt veins, on 3 twisted leaf-stem feet in green , the underside also basket moulded.
Unmarked, attributed to Moore Brothers
Circa 1885
22cm wide
8cm high
Condition: very good, minor wear to gold on one leaf, firing flaw to one leaf, minor wear to green on leg twist, slight discolouration to body – displays well
A very unusual piece, in great condition, and although apparently unmarked – there’s no surface not moulded underneath – we’re quite confident in our Moore Brothers attribution as it compares very well in regards to body, enamel colours – and such a flamboyant style typical of them.
