Victorian engraving – Victoria & Albert in the Scottish highlands, c.1850
Engraving of Victoria & Albert in the Scottish highlands, the Royal Couple on horses accompanied by several other riders, including one in kilt, the hills in the background enfolding Balmoral Castle.
small loss to the early Victorian frame edge, otherwise excellent.
The Royal couple were frequent visitors to the Scottish Highlands, where Prince Albert purchased Balmoral Castle as a present for Victoria. Queen Victoria described Balmoral as ‘my dear paradise in the Highlands’.
