Fine quality Vienna bronze, depicting an ‘Arab Waterman’, stooping under the weight of his cask as he pours a dish of water, a staff in one hand. Marked twice,
“Geschutzt” to the base,
repeated on the water bottle – (translating as ‘Protected’, meaning the design is copyright).
Circa 1900
10cm high
Bergman was not a sculptor, but he employed a group of freelance sculptors to create his fine quality exotic subjects, to cast at his foundry with his name included.
