8 x handcoloured botanical lithographs – E. Emmons fruit – framed, circa 1851

Group of 8 Botanical Lithographs, each depicting different varieties of apples, accurately hand-coloured and life-size.
Each frame measures 39cm high, 31.5cm wide.
6 are from D. Appleton & Co’s ‘Natural History of New York’, drawn & engraved by prominent naturalist Ebenezer Emmons (1799-1863) in 1851.
The other 2 are from similar publications, by Emmons, of the same period.
Condition: Some fading & signs of age, the frames were once gilt & now have white painted over, the mounts slightly mottled with age., the prints generally good, but all with fading evident to the colours.
