Nantgarw plate of gently lobed form, well painted to the base in unusual black enamels on a salmon ground with an Italian scene, with a view through an arch in a tree-encrusted ruined wall to Roman column remains, a bell tower rising above, a figure with a wheelbarrow moving through the opening, the rim with an elaborate feathered gilt border.
