Australian Aboriginal early stonecarved wood Woomera (spear-thrower), with large resin knob to one end, the other with mount for peg, now missing, the whole with an ochre pigment finish.

Good condition with minor losses & signs of age

 

Possibly part of the extensive 19th century collection in the Geelong Museum, disposed of in the early 1950’s when the building was demolished; some items were sent to the Melbourne Museum, but a large number were literally thrown out, and salvaged by a young local….
