Rare Australian Aboriginal iron spear head, the thin leaf-shape head with cord binding to the cane shaft, now reduced in size, with some applied pigment decoration.

These ‘shovel nose’ iron spears belong to the post-contact period when aboriginal hunters were still relying on sourcing food in the wild, adapting to the superior usage of iron over stone. They salvaged iron scraps from Europeans, using horse-shoes, hinges, bolts, and anything else that could be heated up in a dire and hammered flat.
