Fine quality Chinese Export fan, the large sticks with gilt designs of flowering branches on the black ground; the ends with bats, cash-coins, and hanging flower-baskets, the double-sided leaf with colourful scenes of terraced gardens inhabited by figures with applied painted ivory faces, their clothes in applied silks.

Sticks 28.5cm, open 54cm wide
Condition: Colours are still very bright; taping to strengthen one side of face (bird side), slight wear to folds, displays well.
