Chinese Neolithic pottery bowl with small flaring lip, decorated with geometric ‘net’ designs, two small lug handles to the sides.
Majiayao culture, Banshan period, Gansu region.
Circa 2,600 – 2,300 BC.
20cm wide, 10cm high
Condition: worn surface, some chips to the rim restored with very slight overpainting, pottery is stable.
The lugs on this piece allow it to be placed inside a larger vessel’s mouth in a stable position.
