Chinese Silver small cup, Wang Hing, Canton, c. 1900
Small Chinese Silver double handled cup, in the English Arts & Crafts style. Marked ‘WH90’ Circa 1900
one small mark to side
Wang Hing was not a single maker in the English manner, but represents a prolific workshop active in Canton in the last half of the 19th century, and Hong Kong from the 1920's. Recent research has shown it to emerge from the workshops of the Lo family, a wealthy merchant clan. They secured the export trade to Europe and America, for example making luxury pieces for Tiffany's.
