Coalport comport, with unusual pierced rim plate on an elaborate acanthus leaf column, with three layers of leaves, the lower curling over and spreading in three directions to act as feet, mounted on a flat plain disk of porcelain, the whole richly painted with turquoise & gold, the plate with printed & painted flowers.

14cm high, 24cm wide
Condition: several small hairlines to piercing, no restoration
ref. Godden ‘Coalport & Coalbrookdale’ pl 134 for the remarkable stem on a dessert service centerpiece circa 1820. It is set on a more conventional tripod lionspaw base, and has a high bowl above.
