Rare early Bow sauceboat, of footless leaf-shape form with feather moulded sides, painted with a colourful Chinoiserie pattern in bright enamels, with major signs of problems in the kiln, with the foot in unglazed raw fired clay, burnt & stained brown into the lower sides; a huge amount of smokey inclusions to the glaze and the painting.

An exciting example of Bow from the early stages of English porcelain making, when it was all still a miracle when items came out of the kiln intact enough to sell; this sauceboat, despite its obvious problems, has been used quite a lot, judging by the wear to the glaze.
