Provenance: Acquired by a member of the German diplomatic service in Istanbul, Ankara and Thessaloniki in the 1920s and 1930s. Thence to Australia and by descent. Looking at the curvature of this piece, it is evident that this is from a wide round vessel, such as a font, which would have measured around one meter across.
