Early Staffordshire pearlware figure, attr. Fell, – ‘Summer’, C. 1820
$580.00 AUD
Early Staffordshire pearlware figure of ‘Summer’, from a set of the seasons, modelled as a standing lady with cornucopia and bunch of grapes, standing on on a grassy mound and low plinth base.
Circa 1820
Possibly ‘Fell’ c. 1817-20 – ref. Halfpenny ‘English Earthenware Figures’ p 203 for a similar figure depicting ‘Apollo’, with very close decoration to the robes and a similar plinth base, marked ‘Fell’ (Godden Collection) – suggesting this may be intended to be Ceres rather than ‘Summer’.
