Rare English Bone China ‘Monkey Band’, after the Meissen original of c. 1755, comprising various musical monkeys playing instruments under the direction of an excitable conductor, dressed in brightly coloured clothing & hats, the lady singers with open books of music, each set on a green grass base with gilt rococo scrolls. Unmarked, possibly Dudson, circa 1835
Condition | Many restorations, with each piece having at least a small chip repaired, including; songbook replaced, arms, legs, tails replaced, one head restuck, instruments reconstructed. |
