English sprigged lustre-ground jug, classical figures, attr. Shorthouse, c. 1810

English pottery jug, the foot with finely turned rings, the body & neck in a deep purple lustre, with white raised relief classical figures to either side, one with cherubs in a chariot drawn by a sheep, the other with cherubs & a censor, an elaborate urn shape beneath the spout.

attributed to Shorthouse, 

circa 1810 

16.5cm wide, 12cm high

Good condition, minor blemishes to lustre, crazing to base

The handle, base rings, and sprigs all lean towards a ‘Shorthouse’ attribution.
