Fossil Ammonite, 180 Million Years Old
Fossil Ammonite from Madagascar, species uncertain, polished to reveal the slightly translucent interior, showing strong leaf shape suture lines, the inner curve with remnants of original mother-of-pearl shell exterior. Jurassic period, around 180 Million Years Old It’s BIG – 8cm across
11cm across, 3cm thick - a nice large size.
These Madagascar ammonites are beautiful with their well-defined suture lines and crystalline interior. The lines are key to dating them, as earlier examples have simple lines, becoming more complex as time goes by. This allows us to place this example in the Jurassic.
