References | These white glass items were made to compete against the porcelain market, but were not successful. The French origins of this piece are evident in the slight irreverence and translucent quality. This was due to tin being used as the whitening agent; the German products are a denser flat white, as are the English, who were using arsenic rather than tin.rtt |
