Japanese pottery vase with unglazed finish, decorated with applied high relief figures in a landscape, including one in a magnificent bamboo char, separated by pine trees, the rim with petal motifs and Chinese fret.

These unfired highly decorative pieces were made for the Western market, and would have had a vulnerable lacquered finish that rarely survives.
