Large oval silverplate tray, with pierced gallery and four lions paw feet, the center with an engraved armorial for Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Godfrey Dalrymple-White.
Circa 1920.

The crest relates to Sir Godfrey’s father, Vice-Admiral Sir John Chambers White, (1770-1845) who was a high ranking navy officer; as captain of the ‘Renown’ while fighting against Napoleon in Egypt in 1801, he fought for Elba, winning a gold medal shown here on his arms.
Sir Godfrey was a high ranking officer in WWI, and features in many battle reports.
