Machin porcelain plate, chinoiserie Bird & Vase pattern, c. 1825
$395.00 AUD
Machin plate with delightful Chinoiserie scene of a pair of exotic birds, standing on a faun-toned grass patch with a turquoise planter to one side containing a large flowering plant, mirrored by another plant the other side.
Marked with pattern no ‘475’,
apparently unrecorded,
circa 1825
21.5cm W
Ref. Thom & Miller ‘Machin’ p129 for pattern 434 & 456 – the exact same print, but with a different colour scheme. 434 has a green foreground, 456 a peach tone with added gilt details, and this unrecorded example, pattern 475, has a fawn coloured ground and no gilding.
With a very clear ‘475’ pattern number, this is a 3rd variation of this delightful pattern.
