The attribution to Machin & Potts is via a porcelain version of this shape in the Rosenberg Collection, Australia, ex- collection Bill Thom collection and illustrated in his book on Machin ( p76-77). It has the printed Machin mark, while the printed decoration is to be found on the following page, on a different shape earthenware jug – which shares the same pink lustre border. The elements of that decoration appear to have come from the same printing plate as those on this much larger jug.
