ref. Godden, Minton, pl. 128 for the original pattern book entry for this figure. These porcelain pieces are directly related to metal 'chimney ornaments', and would have served the same purpose. They come at the very beginning of the Minton design books, part of a group of 8 small, shallow figures. This figure is number 5 in the design book.
