Also known as Nyonya , Nonya, Peranakan, these particularly decorative wares were in demand in South-East Asian Chinese communities from the mid 19th century onwards. They are actually from the Chinese ceramic production center of Jingdezhen, made for the SE Asian market. This example is a rare marked piece with proof of its origin – kiln no. 9, Jingdezhen .
