Old Sheffield Plate wine coaster, the waved-rim sides with delicate openwork panels and borders, engraved in the Adams style.
Makers marks for unknown maker,
Circa 1815
take bottle base up to 11.5cm, 13cm wide
Excellent condition with old repair to one panel, the silver very intact with multiple scratches but no copper exposed.
The maker’s mark on this piece bears a resemblance to the Sterling mark, minus the lion representing sterling; it appears in ‘Bradbury’ amongst his ‘unknown maker’s’ list, circa 1810-25.
