M. Charriere was a Paris maker of quality instruments & cutlery, particularly well regarded in the medical world for his quality surgical implements. Cutlery was apparently a sideline, but approached with the same degree of precision as surgical instruments as this example goes. He exhibited in the 1851 Great Exhibition in London, where he is referenced as showing ‘Surgical apparatus & instruments of every kind. Cutlery & etc. ‘
