Saltglaze -Flora- wall pocket, circa 1770

$1,650.00 AUD

Rare English saltglaze wall pocket, modelled as a female face, representing Flora, with her hair tied in a bow, a series of leaves forming the pocket opening. Circa 1770

trimmed leaf end, factory faults, small chip

22cm high

Provenance: Zetlin collection, US One side has lost part of the lower leaf tip, and this has been glazed over. To make it symmetric, the other side has been later trimmed also. Interestingly, an example on view in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, has the exact same trimming!
