Chinese Export porcelain tea bowl & saucer, from the Nankin Cargo, decorated in underglaze blue & on glaze enamels with a ‘Pagoda & Pine’ pattern, the colours now degenerated into grey tones, with traces of iron red & gilt details.
Saucer 12cm, cup 4.5cm high, 7.5cm wide
Condition: Good, porcelain has excellent lustre on surface with little sign of being under the sea. Very faint hairline to tea bowl.
Provenance: Geldermalsen shipwreck 1752, known as the ‘Nankin Cargo’, recovered by Australian diver Captain Hatcher 1983, not sold in the European auctions of the Nankin Cargo, brought back to Australia.
