Staffordshire pottery group , children donkey ride, c. 1860

$295.00 AUD

Unusual Staffordshire Pottery figure depicting a young girl in pink riding a donkey, a young man to one side holding the animal steady, set on a high rocky support with patches of colourful ‘moss’, a small black & white dog in the foreground, the oval plinth base with gilt line.
Circa 1860

22.5cm high, 15cm wide

Donkey ear restored, some overspray to donkey body apparently to hide a crack, her neck overpainted, displays well.

Unusual in composition and apparently not recorded by Harding. Similar in construction & colours to Harding bk2 fig 2379, but with different attendant & additional small dog. This example is also considerably larger.
