Stunning over-size early Victorian tray, with broad pierced rococo rim and scroll feet, engraved with scrolling flowers and central pheonix & crown family crest.
Circa 1850
52.5cm wide
Condition: very good, no obvious wear, not related, just in excellent condition.
This is a superb example of the earliest silver plate, when it was given extra-thick plating, and the body underneath is a pale ‘German Silver’. The design is an excellent continuation of the best mid-18th century Rococo.
