Staffordshire porcelain theatrical figure, depicting John Liston playing the character ‘Lubin Log’, from the comedy ‘Love, Law and Physic’, an accumulation of ladies garments & a hat box beneath one arm, the other stretched out in conversation, standing on a low circular grassy plinth with gilt line.

Condition; some small repairs, ie extended hand, green coat touched up.
Love, Law and Physic was written by James Kenney. Lubin Log was a cockney who came into some money & set out to secure a wife. This figure shows him with the gifts he is hoping will do the trick; alas, she runs away!
