References | Provenance: Ann Donahue Mersereau /estate of Foy Casper 1940-2003 (Chief art conservator Chrysler Museum) A 1980 letter from Ida Ely Rubin [rep. as a friend/assistant] describes it as coming from the collection of Ann Donahue Mersereau, and in the letter to Foy it is described as -portrait of the family- but which family is not clear. The sitter remains an enigma, with her young child of just a few years, and the portrait miniature of a youth pinned to her dress with a black ribbon.Pierre Augustin Thomire.b. Paris 1724 – d.
