Rare Wedgwood ‘Water Lily’ pearlware plate, printed in brown with gilt highlights applied over, with the ‘Darwin’ Water Lily pattern.

Excellent condition, glaze has some natural crazing & minute firing flaws

 

This rarity matches the British Museum’s example, which they can track back to Charles Darwin’s family. The brown with gilt was the first version of this delightful pattern to be printed, and stands out as a landmark design by Wedgwood, unique at this early period.
