Worcester teabowl, Giles decorated with gilt flowers, C. 1770
Worcester teabowl of fluted form, finely gilt with flower groups including roses and a tulip, the interior with a birds eye & sprig border, within gilt line rims. Decorated in the Giles workshop, C. 1770
ref. 'The early James Giles' #168 for the same gilding, on a piece of Bow. This method, of scratching out the details of the blooms, was a glass decorating technique, and rarely used on porcelain.
