French artist Alfred Louis Brunet-Debaines was born in 1845, son of a well known architect. In 1863 he attended the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris. His first appearance at the Paris Salon was 1866; he then spends considerable time in England and Scotland, exhibiting at the Royal Academy London between 1872 and 1886. His works were widespread, appearing regularly in The Arts Journal (original prints). In 1889 he won a gold medal at the Paris World Exhibition. He is represented in most major collections around the world.
