Bisque figure of a boy with a mouse & toy house, C. 1835
$580.00 AUD
Rare English bisque figure of a boy, shown standing by a dolls house with a small mouse at the open door, his hand reaching into his waistcoat pocket, on an elaborate pierced rococo base.
Possibly Rockingham, or Samuel Alcock,
circa 1835
14.5 cm high
Condition: restored arm
The base bears a resemblance to Rockingham bases, ref. Rice – ROCKINGHAM- pl 165.
Samuel Alcock is another distinct possibility. The boy is identical to #1013568, a boy with mice & a house, which has a group of enamelled & glazed flowers scattered on the base – a Minton feature. This supports the Samuel Alcock possibility, as he is often found imitating Minton in a slightly more naive manner.
