Chinese export armorial plate, well painted to the center with the arms of Newton, with crossed ‘bones’ supporting a shield, reserved on a shaped black ground, a crowned Negro presenting a sword above and a finely painted wreath of fruit, flowers and birds, the rim with three well detailed specimens in gilt, including an orchid, bamboo, and a hand-of-Buddha tree branch. Circa 1750
