Staffordshire pottery plate, printed in blue with a central scene of a camel & travellers before an Indian-looking building, a palm tree looming overhead, the border with several more small scenes on a softer blue foliage ground.

Joseph Clementson was originally in partnership with Jonah Read as at the Phoenix Works, starting in 1839. In 1856 he expanded to include the Bell Works. After retiring in 1864, his sons took over & changed the mark to Clemenston Bros.
