Elaine Burges was born in Victoria, and studied at the Ballarat School of Mines, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and the Victorian Artist’s Society. She held solo exhibitions in Geelong and her own Gallery in Healesville, and won the Sir Arthur Streeton Award in 1983 and the Sunbury Major Art Award.
