‘Factory Y’ teabowl & saucer, Chinese Family pattern, c.1795
$395.00 AUD
‘Factory Y’ teabowl & saucer, painted with the ‘Fence’ pattern of boy with windmill & parent with umbrella by a fence, within a curious rectangle & dot border.
Circa 1795
13cm
Condition: some wear & signs of age
The pattern is close to Newhall pattern 20, and Keeling pattern X110 – but with key differences. The porcelains of ‘Factory Y’ are also distinct. ‘X Y Z’ were three names given to three unknown manufacturers for research purposes, and have now been identified in part: X is Keeling, Z is Thomas Wolfe. Factory Y remains a delightful mystery!
