Meissen plate with ‘New Spanish’ moulded rim, flowers, c.1760
$580.00 AUD
Meissen dinner plate of ‘New Spanish’ form, with scroll moulded rim, feathering to the edge, brightly painted with flowers within the three reserves, a larger spray to the center, the rim in pale brown.
Crossed swords & ‘.’ mark,
circa 1760
24cm
very minor loss to green enamels
An interesting detail of these plates is the absence of gold to the rim or decoration; this allows us to date it to the ‘Seven Years War’ period when such resources were scarce, 1756-63.
