A Frederick the Great snuff box, of circular ivory form, the interior lined in tortoiseshell, the front with disk of mother-of-pearl inset into a gold framed glass inset, protecting a superbly detailed miniature portrait of a young Frederick inmilitary uniform astride a rearing horse, a dispatch in his outstretched hand, the whole with added details in molten gold drops and super-fine gold wire, including the bullion work on his costume, saddlecloth, and bridle, also in a large ‘Order of the Black Eagle’ on his chest with a small diamond as the center, a further diamond in the horses’ elaborately ribbon- tied tail.
